IDFPR Issues Letter to Controlled Substance Licensees to Register with the ILPMP

If you are a controlled substance license holder and you have not registered with the ILPMP, you will need to register.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) recently issued a letter to all controlled substance licensees, which includes dentists, who have not yet registered with the Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program (ILPMP). State law requires all controlled substance license holders to be registered with the ILPMP.  The letter indicates that failure to comply with the registration requirement may result in disciplinary action by IDFPR. A copy of the letter can be found here.

If you are a controlled substance license holder and you have not registered with the ILPMP, you will need to register.

To register:
1.)   Go to https://www.ilpmp.org/CDC/login.php
2.)   Click Register for an Account
3.)   Click ILPMP Website Registration
4.)   Click Prescriber/Resident
5.)   Follow the Registration steps

If you are having trouble registering with the ILPMP, please email the Illinois Department of Human Services at dhs.pmp@illinois.gov.  Please note, the ILPMP has indicated they are experiencing a higher-than-normal volume of e-mails. Therefore, communication could be delayed. If you have e-mailed the ILPMP and have not heard back, please also check your SPAM/Junk Folder for any communication they may have sent.

For additional information, the ILPMP has a Frequently Asked Question which can be found by clicking here.

What is the PMP?

The ILPMP is a website that allows prescribers and pharmacists to view a patient’s prescription history. The PMP provides prescription information for Schedules II-V controlled substances.
