Dental Auxiliary Courses

ISDS offers certification courses throughout the state to enable dental assistants and hygienists to fulfill the educational requirements as stated in Illinois law for expanded functions.

NOTE! Please do not register assistants/hygienists under the doctor’s log in. When prompted to login please select the “Non-Dentist: Create a new account button” Assistants/hygienists that work for an ISDS member dentist receive the member pricing. The dentist’s membership will be verified after registration. Please provide a personal email address when creating your account, as course communications will be sent via email.

Affidavits are required in order to take continuing education classes. In accordance with Section 1220.245 of the Rules for the Administration of the Dental Practice Act of the State of Illinois, a dental assistant must be at least 18 years of age and have 1,000 hours of clinical dental assisting experience OR have graduated from a dental assisting program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, OR is a currently certified dental assistant as designated by the Dental Assisting National Board, Inc.
