
Dental Auxiliary Courses
ISDS offers certification courses throughout the state to enable dental assistants and hygienists to fulfill the educational requirements for expanded functions as stated in Illinois law. These courses are not suited for dentists.Currently, these are the 3 courses we offer:
Administration and Monitoring of Nitrous Oxide - $295 staff of ISDS member, $525 staff of ISDS Non-member
Anesthesia/Sedation Assistant Monitoring - $575 staff of ISDS member, $900 staff of ISDS Non-member
Coronal Polishing & Application of Pit/Fissure Sealants - $495 staff of ISDS member, $850 staff of ISDS Non-member

Affidavits are required in order to take continuing education classes. In accordance with Section 1220.245 of the Rules for the Administration of the Dental Practice Act of the State of Illinois, a dental assistant must be at least 18 years of age and have 1,000 hours of clinical dental assisting experience OR have graduated from a dental assisting program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, OR is a currently certified dental assistant as designated by the Dental Assisting National Board, Inc.
