The ISDS Foundation Board of Directors has announced six scholarships of $6,000 each for 2026, (two for each dental school in Illinois). Third-year students (Class of 2027) currently enrolled in an accredited four-year pre-doctorate dental program in Illinois are eligible to apply. For the first time, third-year advanced standing students can also apply. Scholarship recipients will be announced in late July or early August.
Applicants should use wetransfer.com to submit a single 4-5-minute video to mglass@isds.org. An Academic Status of University Good Standing should also be emailed to mglass@isds.org.
The video should include:
- Your name
- Your dental school
- What your favorite thing about dental school has been thus far
- What excites and scares you about a career in dentistry?
- What are your plans after graduation and how will the scholarship money help achieve these goals.
In the message area of the transfer, you must include:
- Your name
- Your personal and school email address
- Your home mailing address
Once the application deadline has passed, the video essays will be reviewed and judged based on the following criteria:
- Appropriateness to the questions
- Creativity
- Thoughtfulness and originality
All submitted work must be entirely original and created by the human author. Essays found to contain AI-generated content will be immediately disqualified, and the author may face additional penalties as determined by the review committee. By submitting an entry, you certify that your work is completely your own and has been written without any form of AI assistance. The committee reserves the right to use AI detection tools to verify the authenticity of submissions. We value authentic human thought, creativity, and expression. This policy ensures fair competition and maintains the integrity of the essay evaluation process.
The application deadline each year is May 31.
