ADA Delegation

As one of the 54 state dental associations chartered by the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society participates in ADA governance by sending a delegation of member dentists to the annual ADA House of Delegates meeting. ISDS members choose 19 delegates and 10 alternate delegates to represent them in decisions affecting approximately 176,000 members across the nation.

In Illinois, since most dentists practice in the greater Chicago area, about 2/3 of the delegates and alternates come from the Chicago Dental Society region. The remaining delegates and alternates are spread geographically throughout the rest of the state, according to a plan established by the ISDS Board of Trustees.

If you are interested in serving as a Downstate Delegate or Alternate, please send a cover letter stating your intent to serve as a delegate or alternate, along with a one-page CV, to Tara Conway. If you are in the Chicago Dental Society and would like to apply, fill out the CDS.org form.
