On behalf of our Officers and Board of Trustees, I invite you to the Illinois State Dental Society’s 153rd Annual Session at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton.   Serving others prepares us to lead others, and thus we are prepared to make decisions on the direction of our Society and profession for the year ahead.  When we serve our profession, we preserve our profession.

ILAGD & ISDS CE Course – 8:00am to 4:00pm

The ILLINOIS ACADEMY OF GENERAL DENTISTRY AND THE ILLINOIS STATE DENTAL SOCIETY
presents Until Help Arrives - The Role of an Active Bystander by Speaker Larry Williams, DDS, MPH

Course description: Life-threatening emergencies can happen fast and emergency responders aren’t always nearby. Do you want to stand by and see people suffer because you do not know what to do?  Why get involved when someone is badly injured? According to a recent National Academies of Science study, trauma is the leading cause of death for Americans under the age of 46. Life-threatening injuries require immediate action to prevent a person from dying. Those nearest to someone with life threatening injuries are best positioned to provide first care.  You Are the Help Until Help Arrives!

Objectives:

Participants attending this course will be able to:
1. Better understand the various types of common disaster scenarios.
2. Develop an assessment of an emergency situation.
3. Find training resources to further prepare you for life-threatening situations.
4. Provide basic life-saving first aid until help arrives.
