Collection Underway for Ukraine Oral Surgeons

Oral surgeons out in the field are direly requesting CMS supplies and equipment.

The Chicago Dental Society is helping CDS members Drs. Andrew and Taisa Browar get the word out that badly needed supplies for trauma and oral surgeons are being collected in the Chicago area to send to Ukraine.

Dr. Browar's letter to CDS says in part:

"As you know, (Vladimir) Putin's war on Ukraine is affecting each of us directly or indirectly. While the outpouring of support, both materially and financially, is substantial, including medical and surgical supplies, there is a paucity of supplies and equipment for cranio-maxillofacial trauma, which is considerable. Oral surgeons out in the field are direly requesting CMS supplies and equipment.

Items will be shipped to Poland and then distributed to hospitals in Ukraine via tested routes."

This is an on-going drive to collect, pack and ship needed supplies. So far, more than 10 tons of materials have been packed at a Bensenville warehouse and await shipping. Materials will be distributed by the non-profit UMANA Foundation, the Ukrainian Medical Association of North America.

Urgently needed are:

  • Titanium min-plates and screws for upper/midface reconstruction: 1.2, 1.5 and 2.0
  • Reconstruction plates and screws 2.3, 2.7
  • Titanium mesh
  • 15 Drill motors
