Alert Regarding House Bill 3360

As part of this effort, we are asking you to contact your Democratic members of the House and Senate and let them know that you oppose this legislation and ask them to “reconsider” their support after hearing about the negative impact it will have on dental offices, like yours, in their area.

Dear ISDS Member,

The alert we sent you on January 28, 2021, to contact the Governor asking him to veto House Bill 3360 - which would impose interest of 9 percent in personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits - is having the desired effect on what the Governor’s final action might be. To help our efforts even more, affected groups such as ours are now reaching out to their individual House and Senate members to ask them to contact the Governor’s office and ask that he veto HB3360.

As part of this effort, we are asking you to contact your Democratic members of the House and Senate and let them know that you oppose this legislation and ask them to “reconsider” their support after hearing about the negative impact it will have on dental offices, like yours, in their area. If they agree, ask them to contact the Governor’s legislative office and request a veto of HB3360.

To reiterate, if the Governor signed HB3360 into law, it would result in the following:

  • Has the potential to harm the profession of dentistry by encouraging an explosion of frivolous lawsuits;
  • Allow plaintiffs to accumulate 9 percent interest for up to 2 extra years;
  • This bill unfairly targets those being sued and penalizes them with mounting interest; and,
  • HB3360 unfairly harms thousands of small businesses (dental offices) which may result in closures and loss of needed healthcare providers.
