Mr. Eric Larson

Eric Larson has been chosen as Executive Director of the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS) by its Board of Trustees.  He assumed the duties of this new role on January 1.

Mr. Larson, an Illinois native, has served as the ISDS Director of Finance since 2017, and is a CPA by background.  He came to ISDS from Illinois National Bank, where he served as Controller and oversaw the accounting and finance departments during a period of extreme growth.  He holds a B.S. in Financial Accounting from Illinois State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Illinois Springfield.  Although he is a “numbers person” by trade, he has in-depth knowledge of business operations throughout a wide range of industries, and growth seems to follow him.  Shortly after joining ISDS, Mr. Larson made an immediate impact in proposing updates to the Society’s fiscal policies. This has helped result in no new ISDS dues increases. The Society is also in the best financial shape in its history.

“I have been impressed with Eric from day one,” said ISDS President Dr. Christopher Larsen.  “He’s the player you want at the plate with a runner on third and two outs, because you know he’s going to hit the ball.”

“His creative thinking is clearly shown in the increase of our non-dues revenue, improvements with finance and planning, and our reserves statement. His vision for the future is extraordinary and exciting!  I boldly predict he will lead ISDS to new heights we’ve never flown before.  Our future is bright with Eric as our new leader!”

“Eric Larson is an individual who will maintain the same high standards of the Society that our members have come to expect,” adds President-elect Dr. Alice Boghosian. “His outstanding character and integrity give him the necessary tools to lead ISDS in the future."

“I am honored to have the opportunity to represent the dental industry and the nearly 7,000 members who graciously volunteer their time, talent, and treasure to not only this Society, but patients throughout the State of Illinois,” said Mr. Larson.  “I look forward to working with our President and Board of Trustees to advance this organization and the profession of dentistry in Illinois.  Our membership is an astounding group of practitioners who truly motivate the ISDS staff to perform at the highest level possible on a daily basis.”

Mr. Larson said his first orders of business will be addressing the top desires of ISDS members.  In 2020, he plans to introduce a solution for group health insurance to produce savings on health premiums which continue to strain members financially.  Mr. Larson strives to deliver back value in excess of the dues a member pays to ISDS every year.  There are also new plans to continue to build upon one of our top member benefits: Advocacy.  “Representation is critical for our members. Illinois dentists should be well represented and respected by the executive and legislative branches of government both now and well into the future.”

Mr. Larson will replace Greg Johnson, who retired in July of 2019 after serving as Executive Director since 2010.
