Illinois State Dental Society Foundation Golf Outing
$175 per person includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, box lunch, 2 drink tickets and lots of fun!

The Willow Crest Golf Club is located at 3500 Midwest Rd. Oak Brook, IL. Please join your friends and colleagues for fun on the golf course and support the Illinois State Dental Society Foundation. Registration and lunch begin at 11:00 am with a shotgun scramble beginning at 11:30 am.

Enjoy a fun-filled evening while raising money for our worthwhile cause! We’ll start with a great dinner of salad and pasta. For a suggested donation, you’ll receive chips to make your way around craps, roulette, poker and blackjack tables. For your wins, you’ll receive raffle tickets, which will enter you into a variety of large prizes! There will be other small games, auctions and more!

Opening Breakfast

ISDS President, Dr. Alice Boghosian, will officially open the 157th Annual Session of the Illinois State Dental Society at 7:30 am on Friday, September 10. Several society recognition awards will be announced at the opening breakfast including the Distinguished Member award, President’s Special Award(s), Component President Awards, Sullivan Membership Action Award, and a number of other service awards. The ISDS Foundation will also be announcing the Greek Leadership award.

ISDS House of Delegates: Session I

The legislative body of the Illinois State Dental Society is the House of Delegates. Dr. Bryan Blew, Speaker, will open the 157th House of Delegates at 9:30 am on Friday, September 10th. The House will meet again at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 11th.

President’s/Governor’s Club Reception & Luncheon

Join the President’s Club and Governor’s Club members for this annual luncheon. Reception with cash bar at 11:30 am and lunch 12:00 – 1:00 pm, although this is a complimentary event for all President’s Club and Governor’s Club members, registration is required. Special guest, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, will be speaking and the Chauncey Cross Outstanding Component Participation in DENT-IL-PAC award will be presented.

Reference Committee Hearings

Orientation: 1:15 – 1:45 pm

All ISDS members may participate in the policymaking process of the Illinois State Dental Society by giving testimony on resolutions going before the House of Delegates.

Hearings are scheduled at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 10th.  All ISDS members are invited to participate in the policy making process of the Illinois State Dental Society. During Reference Committee Hearings, members give testimony on submitted resolutions.

President’s Reception & Dinner Dance

The President’s Dinner Dance honors our president, Dr. Alice Boghosian, with a fun evening of dinner and dancing to ‘Big Beat’. Reception begins at 6:30 pm with dinner starting at 7:30 pm. Black tie optional.

Dr. Alan A. Boghosian is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Dental Surgery at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine where he coordinates laboratory and clinical research investigations.  He has authored numerous publications and has lectured internationally on the subjects of dental materials and restorative procedures.  Dr. Boghosian is a member of the International Association of Dental Research and a Fellow in the American College of Dentists and Academy of Dental Materials.  In 1996 he was the recipient of the Gordon J. Christensen Recognition Lecturer Award of the Chicago Dental Society.

Research Topics That Will benefit You, Your Patients, and Your Practice
Results from a collaboration with the American Dental Association Science and Research Institute will be presented. Hearing protection from noise in the operatory will be discussed with an emphasis on devices to protect staff from developing permanent hearing loss. Composite finishing with methods to minimize damage to surfaces and produce high gloss will be presented. Factors influencing strength variability of zirconia-ceramic will be covered.

After this course, you will be able to:
  • Understand factors influencing the risk of dental noise-induced hearing loss
  • Choose the appropriate rotary instruments for finishing the various classes of composites
  • Control variables that could weaken zirconia restorations

Guest/Spouse Luncheon – Yoga, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, and Lunch

Join us at 7:45am for an hour of relaxing yoga on the lawn to start the day. Our instructor, Ebony Bitner, has been teaching yoga, meditation, Pilates and mind-body fitness in the Chicagoland area for over 15 years. In addition to teaching in-person studio classes, Ebony founded her virtual studio, Light & Love Yoga in April of 2020, to bring her nurturing, accessible and inclusive style of teaching mind-body fitness disciplines to a wider audience. After yoga, you’ll have time to freshen up before making your way to the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, located a short 5-minute drive from the hotel, carpool recommended for a 10am start time. After the museum tour, make your way back to the hotel for a relaxing lunch on the patio at 12:15pm.
