This course for monitoring and administration of nitrous oxide by the allied dental personnel is designed to meet the certification requirements of the State of Illinois for expanded functions. The course includes both didactic and clinical components in the monitoring and administration of nitrous oxide and advanced airway management. After successful completion of this course the dental assistant can return to the private office and provide expanded function for the dental team and the monitoring of nitrous oxide, while the dental hygienists will be able to start and stop the flow of gas.
