Activities for Kids
With fun-loving ISDS mascot Flossie leading the parade, kids are welcome to join in and learn about a lifetime
of good oral health habits. Flossie makes brushing and flossing fun, and encourages kids to take the necessary
steps every day to keep their healthy, sparkly smiles.
To that end, each year the Illinois State Dental Society sponsors the
Smile Contest at the Illinois State Fair.
Kids ages 5-15 are invited to compete for cash prizes by showing off their winning smiles.
And, whether you’re a teacher, student, or future dental professional, check out our classroom activities
and experiments that demonstrate how to maintain healthy smiles through brushing, flossing, eating right,
and regular visits to your dentist.
