To promote a positive image of dentistry and spread the message about good oral health care to the public, the Illinois State Dental Society sponsors public relations programs throughout the year, targeted to different age groups. Each February marks the observance of National Children’s Dental Health Month—complete with a statewide coloring contest and activities for young children. During February, member dentists also participate in Give Kids A Smile Day by providing free dental care to children in need. Our “Got Rot” materials have helped spread the message on the dangers of soft drink consumption to oral health and have encouraged kids of all ages to make healthier beverage selections. ISDS communicates with children of all ages the importance of brushing, flossing, regular visits to the dentist and healthy habits for a lifetime.
