The National Health Service Corps

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) is committed to improving the health of the Nation's underserved. NHSC unite communities in need with caring health professionals and support their efforts to build better systems of care.

As a program of the Federal Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Bureau of Health Professions (BHPr), the NHSC assists in recruiting and retaining health professionals to deliver health care in underserved communities. This desire to match the right clinicians with the right opportunity often involves developing sites, preparing communities, and providing innovative solutions.

Practicing primary care in a medically underserved community is a career goal for many health professionals, students, medical residents, and clinicians. The NHSC recruits, prepares, and supports these dedicated students and clinicians through a variety of programs and services.
