Scholarships

In 2015 the ISDS Foundation hopes to award $18,000 in scholarships to qualified dental students who are succeeding academically and who have committed themselves to community involvement. These funds are focused on the programs of Illinois’ three dental schools: Southern Illinois University – School of Dental Medicine in Alton, University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago, and Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine – Illinois in Downers Grove.

It is through generous donor support that the ISDS Foundation is able to continue to provide financial assistance for today’s dental students. Many of these exemplary students will become tomorrow’s leaders of organized dentistry.

Table Clinics & Student Research
Dr. Susan Bishop, Vice President of the ISDS Foundation Board of Directors and Chair of the Dental Student Research Committee summed it up this way:

“Thank you to the judges for taking the time out of their busy practices to Participate. I think the judges were awed with the research at both schools. The rewards are twofold – (1) ISDSF support assists the dental schools and the students financially and encourages quality and unbiased research for the development of the dental products used in our offices; and (2) attendance at the Research Days provides the attendees with an education about new concepts and projects, as well as the educational accomplishments of the students during their four years of education. Please plan on attending and participating in next year’s UIC-COD and SIU-SDM Research Days. Your support is needed.”

White Coat Ceremony
Donor support also enables the ISDS Foundation to help sponsor White Coat Ceremonies at the dental schools. The ceremony symbolizes the student’s entry into the healing profession of dentistry, as a new dental student. It celebrates the student’s choice to pursue a life in service to the health of society.
