Local Anesthesia Courses for Dental Hygienists

In 2001, legislation was passed in the state of Illinois allowing dental hygienists to administer local anesthesia if they met the proper requirements, including successful completion of an approved, 32-hour course.

At the present time, Illinois’ dental schools and dental hygiene schools are offering courses to certify the dental hygienists on this new expanded function. Attention! 2007 Local Anesthesia courses at UIC are now being offered through ISDS.
